The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry congratulated Christians on Christmas, hoping that the new year would bring peace and health.
“As many around the world, including our Christian compatriots (on a bit different date), celebrate birth of Jesus (PBUH), I wish a merry Christmas for all who observe it,” Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a post on his Twitter account on Saturday.
“May the new year bring peace, health and prosperity,” he added.
The spokesman has also attached a picture of St. Thaddeus Monastery to his post. The monetary, on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is located in Iran’s West Azarbaijan province.
