The “Other Face of Human Rights” research group (OFOHR) in line with its major scientific, educational, and research goals and considering the recent war incidents in Gaza, held a Moot Court entitled “The Court of Review of the Palestinian Situation Based on the Procedure of the International Criminal Court (ICC)”. It is worth mentioning that the main reason for using the ICC as the legal basis for holding this Moot Court was the similarity of the crimes committed in Gaza with the four crimes under the jurisdiction of this court.
In the first step to holding this Moot Court, a call to receive bills (indictment and defense) was published in academic platforms on October 23, 2023, by the “Other Face of Human Rights” research group; As a result, 12 bills were sent to the secretariat by international law researchers. After judging the mentioned bills by the jury in the “written phase”, 5 bills were passed to the “oral phase”. In the meantime, various activities were also carried out as preliminaries for the Moot Court before its holding; Such as holding a specialized meeting entitled “Gaza crisis and the International Criminal Court (ICC)” and a specialized workshop entitled “Training on drafting a lawsuit in the International Criminal Court (ICC) for students and legal activists”. Finally, the Moot Court meeting was held on December 7, 2023, by the “Other Face of Human Rights” research group with the extensive support of Iran’s educational and research institutions at the University of Isfahan. In addition, an international conference was held at the University of Isfahan on December 9, 2023, to appreciate the selected teams of this Moot Court, which was accompanied by a speech by several Iranian officials and international law experts regarding the Gaza crisis.
